Thankyou for your support at the Council Elections on 3rd May which maintained 3 Ashford Independent Councillors and 2 other Independent Councillors on the Council

The true sign of democracy was shown by the Electors of Wye who returned an Ashford Independent Councillor with a huge majority over the sitting conservative.

There are several reasons why we feel that National Party Politics should not dictate how your local council at Ashford is run, but the over-riding one is that local peoples views are the most important consideration in local politics.

Ashford Borough Council has seen 4 years of secretive, undemocratic and highly Political Local Government during which your elected representatives have often been ignored.

You can ask yourself: have the current regime's policies made a better life for residents, and are you satisfied with the way new developments are being handled, or is it time for a change?

Ashford Independents are an influential group in the Council. We believe there is no place for Party Politics in Local Government.

Our first loyalty is to local residents, not to a National Political Party.

We have no Whip but members work together for the common good of the Independent cause, concentrating on the needs of their Wards and promoting agreed Policies on Borough-wide issues.

Help us continue the campaign
to keep the Eurostar Train

The campaign appears to be working and thanks to the continued efforts of many people services to Brussells may well be re-instated. The truth on how many travellers to Europe use Ashford Station via the Euro-Disney train service has eventually been realised by the Eurostar bosses. A change of boss is soon due and hopefully a change in service form Ashford will follow. Keep up the pressure by sending letters and e-mails to Damian Green our MP and to Ruth Kelly Secretary of State for Transport.
